DANBURY, Conn. – Senior free safety Zach Adler (Walden, N.Y.) of the Marist football team was named to the ECAC Division I Football Championship Subdivision All-Star Team on Monday.
Last week, Adler was named Third Team Football Championship Subdivision All-American by the Associated Press. Adler was also named First Team All-Pioneer Football League this season, and was named a Third Team FCS All-American by Beyond Sports Network.
This season, Adler intercepted seven passes in 11 games. The total tied a single-season program record, and his average of .64 interceptions per game is currently tied for the first in the FCS ranks.
Adler also ranked second on the Red Foxes in total tackles with 78, and first in solo stops with 33. He also registered six pass break-ups, two-and-a-half tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. His 13 passes defensed led the Red Foxes.
Adler earned two weekly awards from the Pioneer Football League this season. He was named PFL Special Teams Player of the Week following a 91-yard punt return for a touchdown against Georgetown on Sept. 13, and was named PFL Co-Defensive Player of the Week after a nine-tackle, two-interception performance in a victory over Jacksonville on Nov. 1.
In his career, Adler has 15 interceptions. In addition to being named First Team All-PFL this season, he was named Second Team All-PFL in 2013.
