LAWRENCEVILLE N.J. – The Marist women's tennis team claimed its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) victory of the year with a 6-0 sweep of Rider. The Red Foxes move to 1-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
“We are happy to get our first win of the season,” said head coach Jason Sacher. “We look forward to the upcoming matches.
Sophomore Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) kicked off the winning streak for the Red Foxes, posting a 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 three-set win over Alison Noll. Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) kept the ball rolling with a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Michelle Caravaglio. Freshman Callie Morlock (Golden, Colo.) downed Kerrin Toner, 6-1, 6-1. Senior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) breezed by Alexandria Exrjt, 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over Leonora Paul. Sophomore Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) rounded out the sweep for Marist with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Kim Leder. Doubles action was canceled due to darkness.
The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, Mar. 29 at NJIT. The match is set to begin at 1:30 p.m.
