POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women's tennis team picked up a non-conference victory over Colgate on Saturday afternoon, 4-3. With the win, the Red Foxes move to 3-5 this season.

“I was proud of the girls today,” said head coach Jason Sacher. “Over the last two matches, we have seen a lot of growth and development in all sectors of the lineup. Our seinor and captain, Marielle Campbell, pulled out a great victory on senior day, which was special to be a part of. She has worked hard all year and has contributed in so many ways to the team. I was very happy for her in particular. We are excited about the win today and will look to be ready for the next match against Hofstra on Tuesday.”

Marist and Colgate split the singles matches, each winning three. Sophomore Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) defeated Kelsey Shea at first singles, 6-3, 6-1. Junior Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) retired her match against Jennifer Ho after one set, giving the Raiders the victory. Senior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.), who was honored in a senior day ceremony prior to the match, took down Alex Petrini in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. Sophomore Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) fell to Kaelin Brittin in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 10-5. Sophomore Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) downed Katie Grant, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Katie Seitz (Pennington, N.Y.) lost to Kristie Woodbury in sixth singles, 6-2, 6-3.

Marist swept doubles play against Colgate. The duo of Pang and Tahir defeated Shea and Petrini, 8-4. Sophomore Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Carlay downed Ho and Grant, 8-5. Campbell and Seitz topped Fleckenstein and Madnick, 8-4.

The Red Foxes play another non-conference match on Tuesday, April 8 at Hoftra. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. in Hempstead, N.Y.
