POUGHKEEPSIE – Rising sophomore offensive lineman Gabriel Gutierrez (Eagle Pass, Texas) of the Marist football team has been selected to play on the 2014 U.S. Under-19 National Team, which was assembled by USA Football.

Gutierrez is one of 45 players to earn this honor. The team will compete in this year's International Federation of American Football Under-19 World Championship, a tournament which will take place from July 7-16 in Kuwait City, Kuwait. The eight-nation field also includes Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Kuwait and Mexico.

“It's a great opportunity for him to represent this country, and for him to play the game he loves during the summer months,” Marist Head Coach Jim Parady said.

Team USA will be coached by Aaron Brady, the head coach at Malvern Preparatory School in Pennsylvania. Players and coaches will take part in training camp from June 25-1 July 1 in Shenandoah University in Winchester, Va. Here is the team's schedule in pool play:

Monday, July 7 – 1 p.m. EDT vs. Mexico

Thursday, July 10 – 4 p.m. EDT vs. Germany

Sunday, July 13 – 4 p.m. EDT vs. Japan

The gold medal game will take place on Wednesday, July 16 at 4 p.m. EDT between pool play winners.
