POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Marist graduate Terrence Fede has made the Miami Dolphins' 53-man roster after the team made its final cuts on Saturday.
On May 10, 2014, Fede became the first Marist football player to be taken in the NFL Draft when he was taken by the Dolphins in the seventh round with the 234th overall pick. Exactly three months later, he played in his first preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons. On Aug. 16, he had a sack and fumble recovery in Miami's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the 2013 season, Fede set Marist's single-season and program records for sacks, and led the Football Championship Subdivision in sacks per game. He was named the Pioneer Football League's Defensive Player of the Year as helped lead the Red Foxes to a share of the league championship. He then finished sixth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award as the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
The Dolphins open the 2014 regular season with a home game on Sunday, Sept. 7 against the New England Patriots.
