POUGHKEEPSIE – After two days that included testing, work in the weight room and classroom, meetings and physicals, the Marist football team took the field for its first official practice of the 2014 season on Friday afternoon at North Field.
The Red Foxes officially began their workout routine at approximately 3:30 p.m., and broke it down following 21 periods at approximately 5:30 p.m. Head Coach Jim Parady, who is entering his 23rd season at the helm, was pleased with what the first day brought.
“I liked the effort,” Parady said. “The tempo of practice was what you wanted it to be. I thought the freshmen blended in well.”
Marist will return to the practice field for single sessions at North Field on Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon. The Red Foxes will have their first double session on Monday.
Marist will have two preseason intra-squad scrimmages at Tenney Stadium on the mornings of Saturday, Aug. 16 and Thursday, Aug. 21.
The Red Foxes will open the 2014 season at Sacred Heart on Saturday, Aug. 30. Marist will play a program-record seven home games this season. Single-game and season tickets are available for purchase on GoRedFoxes.com.
