CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Marist women's swimming and diving team improved to 7-2 overall after defeating Boston College, 163-137, for its third consecutive win Saturday.
The Red Foxes' divers posted 1-2-3 finishes on the 1- and 3-meter boards, leading to 32 Marist points. Senior Kimberly Tobias (San Jose, Calif.) won the 1-meter dive after scoring 252.52 points. Freshman Megan Berardelli (Ambler, Pa.), the reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Diver of the Week, racked up 259.87 points to take first place in the 3-meter event. Rounding out the top three was junior Renata Diotalevi (Madison, Conn.) with 234.37 and 236.62 points, respectively.
Freshman Karly Haraden (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) and sophomore Meredith Wurtz (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) swam top finishes at long and short freestyle distances. Haraden won the 1,000-yard event in 10:37.06 and clocked in a first-place time of 5:12.73 at 500 yards. Wurtz took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.01 and won the 100-yard event in 53.19 seconds.
Haraden's third and final top finish came in the 200-yard individual medley, which she completed in 2:13.73.
In the 100-yard backstroke, junior captain Bethany Powhida (Delmar, N.Y.) led a 1-2 finish with a time of 1:00.64. Freshman Georgia Goldman (Douglaston, N.Y.) followed with a 1:01.48 time.
Marist will face Seton Hall in its final road dual meet of the regular season at 1 p.m. Jan. 24 before taking on Binghamton at 1 p.m. Jan. 31 for Senior Day.
