POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist men's swimming and diving team suffered a 135-109 loss to Fordham in its 2015-16 home opener Oct. 22. A late Rams push beginning in the 200-yard breaststroke gave the Red Foxes their first loss this year.
The 400-yard medley relay squad of sophomore Robert McDowell, freshman Edward Oser, junior Manuel Garcia and freshman Daniel Knoll as the anchor came up .04 seconds shy of first place. Individually, junior Ryan Murphy took the top spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.58. He placed second in the 500-yard event (4:47.07) and swam the 1,000 in 10:14.57 for third place. Knoll won the 50- (21.36 seconds) and 100-yard (46.50 seconds) events.
In just the second dual meet of the season, senior Josh Dodway qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships at one meter with a score of 310.58 points. The total was good enough for first place. Dodway also won the 3-meter event with 313.43 points. Freshman Nick Woska finished in the top three on both boards. At one meter he came in second (238.58 points) and he finished third at three meters (261.30 points).
Marist will host its first and only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference team in a home dual meet this season when it faces Fairfield at 6 p.m. Nov. 6.
