JERSEY CITY, New Jersey – Sophomore Erica Crosier scored her first career goal and kept going, recording a hat trick as the Marist women's soccer team defeated the Saint Peter's Peacocks in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, 6-1, Sunday afternoon.
Crosier kicked off the contest netting her first career goal three minutes into the match. The Red Foxes never looked back. Camille Bowen added a second goal at the 10 minute mark of the game and then Hope Quinonez made it 3-0 Marist just 10 minutes later.
The Red Foxes headed into the locker room with their largest lead of the season at any point after a dominating first half. The Peacocks struck first in the second half in the 59th minute but the Red Foxes quickly responded, as Erica Crosier scored her second of the game just five minutes later.
Crosier then added a third in the 71st minute followed by a goal from Jessica Fanelli in the 80th minute. Not only did Crosier net three on the day in all three of her shot attempts but she assisted on the Red Foxes second goal of the game. Reigning MAAC rookie of the week Kristen Reilly notched two assists in the match.
The Red Foxes as a team put 18 shots towards goal, 12 of which were on net. Saint Peter's had nine shots, six on goal. Ashley Houghton was solid in net for the Red Foxes filling in for Makala Foley, making five saves.
With the win the Red Foxes move to 2-2 in MAAC play, 3-7-1 overall, while Saint Peter's is 0-4 in conference play, 2-9-0 overall. The Red Foxes return to action as the team hosts Quinnipiac on Wednesday, October 7th at Tenney Stadium. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
