ANNAPOLIS, MD. – The Marist women's tennis team were defeated by Navy, 5-2, Sunday afternoon at the Tose Family Tennis Center. With the loss the Red Foxes fall to 0-5 in conference play this season.
The team of junior Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Claire Schmitz (Scotia, N.Y.) picked up the Red Foxes lone win in the double session as they defeated Navy's Mikaela Carlson and Allie Parlansky, 8-6. Navy went on to win the doubels point after losing the other two matches.
Both Katie Sietz (Pennington, N.J.) and Pang picked up singles victories for the Red Foxes in the singles sessions and only trailed three matches to two after Katie Sietz defeated Navy's Noelle Kaufmann.Pang ended up being the Red Foxes best player on the day, picking up a win in both doubles and singles.
The Red Foxes return to action next weekend as they take on Binghamton on Friday, March 13 and then Cornell on Saturday, March 14.
