POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist football team has reached the midway point of Spring Practice, as the Red Foxes continue preparations for the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at Tenney Stadium.
Spring Practice opened the morning of Tuesday, March 24, and takes place over a five-week span. The Red Foxes have completed seven practices to this point. Marist will have seven more practices in addition to the Spring Game, with the final practice taking place the morning of Friday, April 24.
According to Head Coach Jim Parady, who will be entering his 24th season in 2015, the first seven practices have involved getting longer looks at younger players, as well as seeing some increased versatility. Players at wide receiver, offensive line, linebacker and safety have worked at different spots within their position groups.
“Some guys have really taken advantage of their reps in different spots,” Parady said. “Our personnel has dictated guys working at different spots within their position groups. This will allow players to be more versatile in getting playing time.”
Here are Coach Parady's thoughts on what he's looking for from each unit moving forward in practice:
Offense
“We're looking for more consistency with our execution.”
Defense
“Continuing to improve on the details of our assignments.”
Special Teams
“We'll be having more live action and pressure situations over the next two weeks.”
Marist will hold its eighth practice the morning on Friday, April 10. The Red Foxes will hold a Coaches' Clinic prior to practice on Saturday, April 11.
