Box Score 2 FISHKILL, New York – The sixth-seeded Marist baseball team took down the fifth-seeded Monmouth Hawks, 10-3, but then had its season ended by second-seeded Canisius, 5-0, in the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Baseball Championship on Thursday at Dutchess Stadium.
Marist turned a total of six double plays on the day, with three in each game.

Marist 10, Monmouth 3
The Red Foxes started the game with a two-run homer to left field from Graham McIntire in the first inning and never looked back, tacking on three runs in the third and sixth, and a run apiece in the eighth and ninth inning. Marist was 5-for-13 with runners on base and 3-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
RBI doubles from Tyler Kirkpatrick and Steve Laurino in the third inning extended the Marist lead to 5-0 and Matt Belitz and Zach Racusin earned RBIs in the sixth inning to give the Red Foxes a commanding 8-3 lead after six.
Kirkpatrick finished the game 2-for-5 with an RBI, John Brucker went 2-for-4, and Racusin went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Seven out of nine Red Foxes found their way onto the hitting column.
Senior left-hander Rich Vrana pitched a complete game for the Red Foxes surrendering three runs on 11 hits escaping innings with runners in position numerous times throughout the game. With the win Vrana moved to 5-4 on the season.
For Monmouth Dan Shea, Grant Lamberton, and Chris Gaetano had multiple hit games for the Hawks. Pitcher T.J. Hunt went 5.1 innings for the Hawks and relinquished seven earned runs on six hits.
Canisius 5, Marist 0
Laurino led the Red Foxes offensively by going 3-for-4 as the Red Foxes outhit the Golden Griffins, 8-7.
Senior right-hander Chris Napolitano (4-3), who went five-plus innings, took the loss for the Red Foxes. Sophomore right-handers Tyler Dearden (1.1 innings) and Ryan Thomas (1.2) closed the game with three scoreless innings of relief.
Four Canisius pitchers combined on the shutout, with the win going to J.P. Stevenson (6-3), who allowed just one hit in three innings.
The Golden Griffins scored single runs in the first and second without the benefit of a hit in either inning. Canisius then broke the game open with a three-run sixth. First baseman Ryan Stekl and shortstop Anthony Massicci each had two hits for the Golden Griffins.
Marist had runners at the corners in both the fourth and sixth, but was unable to push any runs across.
Marist concluded its season at 19-27-1.
