STONY BROOK, New York - Playing in its first match against Stony Brook in eight seasons, the Marist men's soccer team lost its first overtime game of the 2015 season Wednesday night. The Red Foxes fell to the Seawolves, 2-1, on a sliding score from sophomore Vince Erdei in the 102nd minute.

"This was a tough result tonight," head coach Matt Viggiano said. "We really deserved better. We made one mistake early and had to expend a lot of energy to get the equalizer. I hope the guys learn from this and use it as a positive moving into conference play."

Both sides had a goal in each half, as freshman Cameron Harr netted his team-best third score of the season for Marist at the 79:52 mark to tie the contest at 1. A shot from inside the box by senior Brian Coyt sailed just wide right of the net in 89th minute to send the game into extra frames.

Diving stops by goalies Mark Rajovic and Jason Orban in the final minute of the first overtime kept the score deadlocked at 1 and forced a second overtime, which lasted a little more than 90 seconds.

Rajovic finished with a match-high six saves for the Red Foxes, while Orban made five stops for the Seawolves in their second win of the season. Stony Brook Senior Martin Giordano led all players with seven shots.

The Red Foxes will continue their three-game road trip when they travel to Vermont. Kickoff against the Catamounts is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 19.
