BRONX, New York – In its first road meet of the 2016-17 season, the Marist women's swimming and diving team fell to Fordham, 176-67.
Senior Isabella Morreale was a top finisher for the Red Foxes, completing the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:26.02. Freshman Courtney Levins came in third with a time of 2:30.77.
The Red Foxes' top freestyle performances came from junior Sara Nestrowitz and senior Meredith Wurtz. Nestrowitz clocked in at 5:13.70 at 500 yards and 10:38.84 at 1,000 yards to take second place in both races. Similarly, Wurtz was no. 2 in the 50- (24.62 seconds) and 100-yard (53.07 seconds) freestyle events. Junior Shannon Gordon contributed a third place time of 10:48.65 in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
At one and three meters in the diving events, junior Megan Berardelli placed second with 260.02 points and 236.77 points respectively. Sophomore Lauren Katz racked up 226.95 points to earn third place in the 3-meter dive.
The Red Foxes will host Rider in their next meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. The Broncs are one of only two teams to defeat Marist in a MAAC regular season dual meet in the last 10 years.
