JERSEY CITY, New Jersey -- Goals by Simon Lund Jorgensen and Cameron Harr gave the Marist men's soccer team a 2-0 win over the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Marist improves to 9-5-1 (4-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) and is over .500 in conference play for the first time this season. The loss drops Saint Peter's to 3-11-2 (2-6 MAAC).

"It's a good gutty win in tough elements" said head coach Matt Viggiano. "Saint Peter's is a good attacking team so to get a shutout is great. It's the kind of win you need if you want to play in the postseason. I was proud of the guys, the elements were difficult and the field was poor but they found a way to win which is what you want from a team...We just need to keep playing and take it one win at a time. We have our last home game on Wednesday and if we can get a result things will be pretty clear what we have to do the rest of the season. We just have to take care of Wednesday and see where we are on Wednesday night."

With the goal, Harr now has a career high 16 goals on the season, doubling his total from 2015 which earned him MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year honors.

The Red Foxes held a 14-13 edge in shots and a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Peacocks held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

For the fourth consecutive game, Marist got on the board first, in the 17th minute, when Connor Flatley found Lund Jorgensen who's shot beat the goalie for the 1-0 lead.

Winds of nearly 30 miles per hour along with wet and cold conditions, limited chances for both teams and the two teams headed into the half with the Red Foxes up 1-0.

The Red Fox defense was tested in the second half with several corner kick opportunities for Saint Peter's but Mark Rajovic and the defenders held strong, keeping the clean sheet.

With 0:37 left in the game, a Marist player was fouled in the box for a penalty kick. For the third time in two games, Harr calmly converted the chance, giving the Red Foxes the 2-0 advantage.

With time winding down, Saint Peter's looked for the equalizers but were unable and the final horn sounded with Marist winning 2-0.

Up next, the Red Foxes return home for their final regular season game at Tenney Stadium as they square off against the Niagara Purple Eagles on Wednesday, Oct. 26th at 4 p.m.
