EDISON, New Jersey -- Freshman Katie Tijerina was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Water Polo Rookie of the Week the conference announced on Wednesday. The award is the third of the season for Tijerina, who was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on February 3rd and MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on February 10.

Katie had six goals, four assists, three steals, three field blocks and seven drawn ejections in four matches vs. #11 UC Santa Barbara, #25 Cal State East Bay, #17 Indiana and #22 Long Beach State. She had two goals, three assists, three steals, two field blocks and three drawn ejections in a 8-6 loss to #17 Indiana and two goals, one assist and two drawn ejections in a 16-9 loss to #22 Long Beach State.

The Red Foxes have a three week break before heading to Cambridge, Massachusetts and the Harvard Invitation where Marist will face off against #14 Princeton University (10:30 AM) and Fresno Pacific University(3:30 PM) on Saturday March 5 and Mercyhurst University (11:45 AM) on Sunday March 6.
