Marist Water Polo Fell Short in a Close Battle with Princeton

The Red Foxes lost to #12 Princeton 11-9

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Water Polo faced off with the Princeton Tigers, Thursday afternoon, where they fell by a final score of 11-9. The Red Foxes finish the regular season with an overall record of 24-5, heading to the MAAC Championships.
 
Kendell De Beer once again led the Red Fox offence with four goals in the match. Along with De Beer, five other Red Foxes got on the board with a goal of their own.
 
SUMMARY
  • At the end of the first quarter, Princeton took control, with a 4-2 lead to open the match.
  • The Tigers kept their momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Red Foxes 3-1 to make the score 7-3 going into halftime.
  • After the half, Marist picked up some momentum, scoring five goals and only letting in two to make it a one score match, 9-8, going into the fourth.
  • In the fourth quarter, the Red Foxes fought to keep it close, but Princeton would stay ahead and win by a final score of 11-9.
