EDISON, N.J. – Marist men's tennis sophomore Justin Chanthalangsy (San Marcos, California) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's tennis Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in his career, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Chanthalangsy won two matches in one day against two different opponents as the Red Foxes played a shortened 1-4 format in which one doubles and four singles matches take place at the same time.
Chanthalangsy teamed up with Paula Siracusa in the first doubles position to defeat Fordham's pairing of Pedro Alonso and Nick Borak, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3.
In the Red Foxes second match of the day, Chanthalangsy competed in the first singles position bounced back after losing the first set and beat Wagner's top player Dule Ray Sundy, 3-6, 6-3, 10-6.
With help from two victories the Red Foxes moved to 5-2 overall on the young season. The team returns to action on Saturday, March 12th with a match against Yale in New Haven, Connecticut. The following day the Red Foxes will then take on Fairfield and Stony Brook also in New Haven.
