PRINCETON, New Jersey - Lars Schouten and the Marist men's tennis team completed a successful weekend of competition this past weekend at the Farnsworth Invitational in Princeton, New Jersey.
On Saturday, Schouten became the first Red Fox in the program's history at the tournament to reach the finals in his respective bracket at the Farnsworth. Schouten would draw Princeton's Jimmy Wasserman in the B singles flight's championship match. Wasserman would defeat Schouten 6-4 in the first set and then closed out the match with a 6-2 in the second set.
"This is exactly the type of tournament we need to prepare our players for the Regionals at Yale in two weeks," said head coach
Tim Smith. "Eight players had a chance to play four or more matches and we're looking forward to what's next."
The Red Foxes head to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament up next. They will compete in matches in New Haven, Connecticut starting on Wednesday, October 18.
