Red Foxes Travel To Seton Hall Thursday For Non-Conference Game

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist Women's Basketball team returns home from Hawaii and hits the road this Thursday, when they battle the Seton Hall Pirates in South Orange, NJ. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Walsh Gymnasium.

SCOUTING THE PIRATES
In the team's 73-54 win at home against Jacksonville State, forward Taylor Brown poured in 19 points, eight rebounds, and added three blocks. Sophomore Shadeen Samuels posted a double-double in the contest, scoring 18 points and grabbing 11 boards. The Pirates are currently 4-1 in the 2017-18 campaign and are riding a two-game winning streak. Their only loss of the season came from in-state foe Princeton, as Seton Hall would fall to the Tigers by an 85-83 margin at home. Out of their four wins thus far, two have been against fellow MAAC opponents in Saint Peter's and Rider.

LAST TIME AGAINST THE PIRATES
The Red Foxes fell to the Pirates in their previous matchup during the 2016-17 season, losing the game 76-63 at McCann Arena. After Marist lead 39-24 at the half, Seton Hall would begin the third quarter with a 14-0 run, never looking back. The Red Foxes turned the ball over 18 times in the second half alone. The Pirates would capitalize and score 32 second half points off of those turnovers.

PREVIOUS OUTING
Marist spent its Thanksgiving Break competing in the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Hawaii. The Red Foxes fell to host University of Hawaii by a seven point margin in the first game, while coming up unsuccessful again in their 78-57 defeat to the University of Southern California. In their third and final matchup of the tournament, Marist lost 61-47 to the Purdue Boilermakers.

Down by 12 at the half, the Purdue simply outshot Marist throughout the game. The Boilermakers would shoot just over 35% from behind the three-point arc, while the Red Foxes shot just over 18% from downtown. Guard Rebekah Hand, who would nab a spot on the Rainbow Wahine Showdown All-Tournament team, put up 18 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished two assists. Redshirt sophomore Alana Gilmer was the only other double-digit scorer for Marist, netting 11 points in the loss.
