SOUTH ORANGE, New Jersey – The Seton Hall Pirates propelled by a big second quarter, earned a decisive win over the Marist women's basketball team, 85-60, Thursday evening in non-conference action at the Walsh Gymnasium. The Red Foxes drop to 1-6 overall on the season while Seton Hall improves to 5-1.
SUMMARY
After holding the lead for the majority of the first quarter, the Pirates amped up the pressure in the second quarter, rattling off a 10-0 run to take a 31-18 lead with just over seven minutes to go in the half.
The Pirates' run continued building their advantage with a 21-2 run over seven minutes in the second quarter that extended to a 27-4 run to head into halftime. Seton Hall would lead 47-22 at the break and hold a decided advantage on the offensive glass with 15 to the Red Foxes' two.

Allie Best would do most of the damage for the Red Foxes in the third quarter, scoring eight and five points respectively as Marist would outscore Seton hall 19-18 in the stanza. Marist would again hang tough in the fourth quarter, only being outscored by one, but the early hole the Red Foxes dug would be impossible to overcome.
KEY STATS
- Seton Hall punished Marist on the offensive glass, outrebounded the Red Foxes 15-2 in the first half and 22-6 overall. The Pirates also held the overall rebounding edge, 46-27.
- The Pirates' pressure was also evident, forcing Marist into 27 turnovers and converting that into 32 Seton Hall points. Seton Hall finished the game with 19 steals.
- The bench points and paint battle was close however with the Red Foxes holding a 33-31 advantage in scores by the subs. Seton Hall outscored Marist in the paint 32-30.
- The Pirates would make the Red Foxes pay from deep, converting on 12 of their 31 triples (.390).
- Marist would only be outscored in by four points in the first, third, and fourth quarter combined but a 28-7 quarter by Seton Hall would set the tone for the remainder of the game.

- Allie Clement scored a team high 14 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field.
- Kendall Baab scored a season high 11 points, all of which came in the second half, on 4-for-5 shooting from the field. Baab also had five rebounds to round out a strong game by the senior captain.
- Allie Best scored seven points while adding two rebounds and an assist.Â
