NEW HAVEN, Connecticut – The Marist men's tennis team concluded day two at the Connecticut State Open after a long full day of competition on Saturday. The Red Foxes would pick up more big wins in singles and doubles to continue their strong representation at the tournament.
"I would say it was another good day at the Connecticut State Open," said head coach
Tim Smith. "Picking up three singles wins and two doubles wins with Lars, Chris and Jan all winning two matches each was great to see."
After dropping his singles match on Friday,
Lars Schouten would defeat Kent Mukai from Boston College 6-3, 7-5 to advance in the consolation rounds in the 2A bracket.
Christoper Gladden continued his winning ways as he picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win over Alan Sou from Yale and
Jan Dernic would win the Red Foxes third singles match as he defeated Jack Mclister from UConn, 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
The Red Foxes will wrap up play and look to finish on a winning note Sunday afternoon during the final day at the Connecticut State Open.
