BALTIMORE, Maryland – The Marist women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the H20unds Invitational with strong performances in both session 2 and 3 and placed second overall.
The Red Foxes finished with 892 points. Host Loyola University finished first (1,171), while Iona College placed third (824) and Saint Peter's University placed fourth (160). With the results, Marist improves to 4-3 on the season.
Following the conclusion of the meet, senior
Sara Nestrowitz was named the Women's Swimmer of the Meet and freshman Esabelle Gervasio was named the Women's Diver of the Meet.
Session 2:
Nestrowitz continued her strong performance from the first session on Friday, picking up a win in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.13. Senior
Melanie Newton placed third with a time of 1:56.85. She continued her momentum and picked up a second first place finish and the Red Foxes went 1-2-3-4-5, in the 1,650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:17.49. Freshman Heather Hartmann placed second (17:37.20), senior
Shannon Gordon finished third (17:39.30), Newton placed third (17:43.06) and senior
Deirdre Connor finished fifth (17:45.48).
In the 100 yard breaststroke, freshman
Georganne Zimmerman finished second with a personal best time of 1:04.26.
On the diving board, Marist went 2-3-4 in the 3 meter dive, Gervasio finished second with a score of 247.30, junior
Lauren Katz placed third with a score of 236.50 and junior Grace
Casolo finished fourth with a score of 199.95.
Session 3:
In the 200 yard medley relay, the Red Foxes finished second with the team of sophomore Juliet Nowak, Zimmerman, sophomore
Jessica Miller and freshman Samantha Dickinson with a final time of 1:48.35.
Marist picked up another second place finish, this time in the 400 freestyle relay with the team of Zimmerman Connor, Newton and Nestrowitz posting a final time of 3:34.00.
???????Nowak picked up a third place finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.99 and Zimmerman finished third in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.21.
In the 200 yard butterfly, Miller finished fourth with a time of 2:10.44.

The Red Foxes have over a month off before they head down to Orlando, FL for the team's winter training trip at the YMCA Aquatic Center from Dec. 29 through Jan 3.
