Women's Basketball's Balanced Effort Downs Terriers

BOSTON, Massachusetts – The Marist women's basketball team won its second straight game as they downed Boston University 80-52, Saturday afternoon at the Case Gymnasium in Boston, Massachusetts. The Red Foxes had five players score in double figures as a balanced effort from inside and outside helped Marist improve to 3-7 overall with just two games remaining in non-conference play.

SUMMARY – Maura Fitzpatrick got the Red Foxes going in the first quarter scoring 11 of her 18 points, helping the Red Foxes to an early 20-14 lead after one. The Red Foxes would roll from there, going on a 15-0 run from the end of the first quarter to around the middle of the second.

Back-to-back triples by Rebekah Hand and Allie Best, followed by a steal and then a dime from Best to Fitzpatrick put Marist up 28-14 and set the tone for the remainder of the game. At the half, the Red Foxes were shooting 53 percent from three (7-13), 56.7 percent from the field (17-30), held the lead for 18 minutes, and had a 20 point lead.

Marist kept Boston University at bay for the rest of the third quarter and an Allie Best three at the quarter's buzzer would give the Red Foxes a 24 point lead, their largest of the game to that point, 65-41. In the fourth quarter the subs would come on and continue to build the Red Foxes lead. After two straight baskets from Gabi Redden halfway through the fourth quarter the Red Foxes improved their lead to 29. Marist would go on to win by 28, their largest margin of victory so far this season.
