EDISON, New Jersey – Redshirt freshman Tyler Kapuscinski has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference baseball Rookie of the Week the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is his second of the season and fifth overall for the program.
Kapuscinski continued his strong offensive numbers, batting .375 (6-for-16) in four games this past week, with two doubles, three walks, one stolen base, his first career home run, five runs scored, four RBI, a .688 slugging percentage and a .474 on base percentage. In a 15-6 win at VCU, Kapuscinski went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a home run, a walk, three runs scored and four RBI. In a 4-3 win over Penn, he went 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
The Red Foxes currently stand at 9-7 and are coming off a 15-6 win at Virginia Commonwealth University on Thursday and a two of three games series win over the University of Pennsylvania with a 4-3 win on Saturday and a 5-0 win in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Sunday.
Up next, Marist returns home to open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play against the Iona Gaels. The Red Foxes and Gaels will play a doubleheader (12 & 3 PM) on Saturday and a single game (12 PM) on Sunday at McCann Field.
