POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist volleyball seniors
Kelsey Ediger,
Ashton Korona and
Sydney Rojek will be team captains for the 2017 season.
Ediger moved into eighth place all-time in total attacks during the Red Foxes' season opening tournament, the Lehigh Fall Classic, over the weekend. She swiped a career-high five service aces in Marist's shutout of Coppin State on August 26. The only Red Fox to start all 30 matches in 2016, Ediger also finished second on the team in kills (257) and digs (213). She is a two-time Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team honoree.
With 207 career blocks, Korona needs six more to move into the top 10 all time in program history. Her 99 total blocks during the 2016 season was the eighth highest single season total by a Red Fox and her 100 as a sophomore was seventh all-time by a Marist player in one year. She has been selected to the MAAC All-Academic Team the last two seasons.
Rojek has tallied 176 assists and 11 service aces as a setter for the Red Foxes the last three years. She Dove for a career-high eight digs against James Madison and was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in 2016.
The Red Foxes will host the Volley In The Valley Tournament in McCann Arena for the first time since 2015. Marist will battle Binghamton at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 and play defending Horizon League champion Cleveland State at 3 p.m. Sept. 2 in the second matches of each day.
