Marist Will Begin MAAC Slate At Siena

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist volleyball team (3-8) will play its first of 18 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches when it squares off against Siena (0-11) at 7 p.m. Sept. 19. Live stats will be provided and there will be a live video stream available for a fee.  
 
Marist is 2-2 against its arch rivals from Loudonville, New York, under Head Coach Lauren Amundson. Both of the Red Foxes' wins have come in straight sets, but the Saints' last two victories in the series have come on their home court.
 
LAST TIME OUT
 
The Red Foxes lost two matches in the Big Apple Battle to wrap up their non-conference slate, falling to Saint Francis-Brooklyn, 3-2, and LIU Brooklyn, 3-0, in consecutive matches Sept. 15. Marist senior Kelsey Ediger posted a double-double with season highs of 16 kills and 14 digs in the five-set defeat to the Terriers.
 
PLAYERS TO WATCH
 
Sophomore Nikki DeSerpa is one of three Red Foxes to have started all 11 matches this season and has slammed 2.85 kills per set. Defensively, she has jumped for 16 blocks. Ediger is second on the team in kills (94) and service aces (10).
 
Marist has maintained its edge in blocks over its opponents and leads the MAAC with 1.98 blocks per set.  
 
SCOUTING THE SAINTS
 
The Saints enter conference competition coming off losses to New Hampshire, Dartmouth and Rhode Island respectively in their latest tournament.
 
Siena sits at third in the MAAC averaging 1.39 aces per set. Freshman Nicole Deobler leads the conference with 0.57 aces per set. Classmate Tyla Parker has dished out 141 assists for most on the team and her 48 digs are second among Saints.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
 
Marist will conclude its nine-match road trip when it heads to Western New York to continue conference play. The Red Foxes will battle Niagara on Sept. 23 and Canisius on Sept. 24. First serve for both contests will be 1 p.m.
