POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist women's soccer heads south to the Garden State and challenges a Saint Peter's team who is still attempting to win its first conference matchup. The Red Foxes look to add another tally to the win column and improve their overall record of 5-4-2 (2-0-1 MAAC).
PREVIOUS OUTING
Marist is coming off a 1-1 draw against Quinnipiac this past Saturday at home. The lone goal scored for the Red Foxes was netted in the 88th minute by
Nicole Sasso, after she converted a corner kick from
Tori Flaherty.
The team had an opportunity to win the contest in the 96th minute after being fouled in the penalty box, but she could not prevail after Quinnipiac's goalkeeper made a crucial save.
STEADY BACKLINE
Marist goalkeeper
Makala Foley has allowed only two goals in her past three games, all against MAAC opponents (Rider, Canisius, and Quinnipiac). Foley had five saves in the draw with the Bobcats on Saturday. Through 11 matches this season, the goalkeeper has a goals against average of 0.84, which currently leads the MAAC. Additionally, Foley ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.830).
PLAYER TO WATCH
Last season, the Red Foxes were victorious in their previous matchup with the Peacocks, winning at home by a score of 4-2.
Brianna Robinson played a large role in the win, nabbing a goal and tallying an assist in the contest. Robinson is currently second on the team in goals with two.
HOT START
After settling for a draw against Quinnipiac, Marist is now 2-0-1 in MAAC play. The last time the Red Foxes went undefeated through their first three conference games was in 2012 when the team began the season at 6-0.
SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS
Saint Peter's is currently riding a four game losing streak, including a 4-0 loss to Niagara at home. The Peacocks are 0-3-0 in MAAC play, with an overall record of 2-7-0.
