POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's soccer team (5-4-0) picked up its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory and moved over .500 with a 3-0 win vs the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Wednesday night at Tenney Stadium.
SUMMARY:
For the fourth consecutive game, the Red Foxes got on the board first when junior co-captain
Simon Lund Jorgensen found senior co-captain
Kevin Kappock on the right side who sent a cross into the box that bounced past the Peacock defenders and goalie and into the bottom left corner for the 1-0 lead. Twenty two minutes into the second half, a Saint Peter's hand ball in the box gave Marist a penalty kick and sophomore
Samad Bounthong slotted it home inside the left post for the 2-0 lead. Just over six minutes later, Lund Jorgensen fed freshman
Blake Aronson on the left side who took it to the end line before feeding a cross into the box that found freshman
Allen Gavilanes who ripped the shot into the back of the net for the 3-0 victory.
KEY STATS:
- The Red Foxes outshot the Peacocks 24-7 and 9-2 in shots on goal
- Marist had 10 corner kicks to Saint Peter's 4

- As a freshman, Gavilanes now leads the team in goals (4), assists (6), shots (24) and shots on goal (10). His goal gives him at least one point in his last four consecutive games and seven of nine so far this season.
- The 24 shots marks the second consecutive game the Red Foxes finished with over 20 shots
- In three games this season at Tenney Stadium, Marist is 3-0 and has scored 3 goals in each match
- Kappock's goal in the first half was his first of 2017 and the third of his career
