RIVERDALE, New York – The Marist women's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over the Manhattan Jaspers Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. With the win the Red Foxes are now 5-2 in conference play and 7-6-1 overall. Manhattan drops to 3-7-2 overall and 2-4-1 in the MAAC.
- The Red Foxes and Jaspers would play to a scoreless first half. Marist would finish the first 45 minutes leading in shots 5-3 and corners 5-1.
- Marist would finally cash in on its seventh corner of the game as Nicole Sasso headed the ball in off a kick from Alexa Svensson to give the Red Foxes a 1-0 lead.
- Marist would hold on from there thwarting all three of the Jaspers' shot attempts on goal.
- Sasso's goal was her second of the season.
- This is the fourth shutout of the season for the Red Foxes.
- Svensson now holds the team lead with six assists.
- The Red Foxes have now matched last season's conference win total with three games remaining in the league.
Marist will travel to Hanover, NH on Monday, October 15 to face non-conference opponent Dartmouth. The game kicks off at noon will be viewable on ESPN+.
