HANOVER, New Hampshire - The Red Foxes played a strategic game, but a five-minute period allowed Dartmouth to score three goals and take the win on Monday night.
- In the 17th minute, Riley Abate found an open Abby Murphy near the net who fired from close and earned her first career goal.
- Marist held the lead for the rest of the first half, with Francesca Guzzo making three saves in the process.
- Dartmouth scored three times in three minutes in the mid 50s minutes, one of which came from a penalty kick.
- Freshman keeper Natalie Kelchner made five saves in the second half, but could not stave off the Dartmouth onslaught completely.
- Freshman Riley Abate tallied her first career assist to give freshman Abby Murphy her first career goal to put Marist on the board.
- Dartmouth led in shots 23-9, and shots on goal 11-5.
- Murphy and freshman Nicole Piperea led the Red Foxes with three shots each.
- This is the first of three games for Marist this week, and the only one that does not count towards MAAC standings.
"Tonight was a really good opportunity for us to continue learning about ourselves as individuals and as a collective unit" stated Coach
Leigh Howard after the game. "We had a couple of players who really made an impact on the game and took advantage of their minutes. It's our hope that we can build on those moments heading into a big conference match on Wednesday."
Women's soccer will return to Tenney Stadium to host Siena on Wednesday. Kick off is set for 7 p.m. With one more win, the Red Foxes will clinch a playoff spot in the MAAC Championships.
