POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - The Marist volleyball team with travel to Connecticut this weekend. They will play Quinnipiac on Saturday, November 3rd at 1 P.M. and Fairfield on Sunday, November 4th at 1 P.M.

                                                 

LAST TIME OUT

The Red Foxes defeated Saint Peter's 3-1 on Sunday, October 28th at McCann Arena. Sophomore Sarah Austin led Marist with 15 kills, followed by juniors Nikki DeSerpa and Stephanie Stone with 10 each. Senior setter Taylor van der Biezen had 44 assists, including setting fellow senior Lauren Waide for the game-winning kill in their last game in McCann Arena.

                                                 

SCOUTING QUINNIPIAC

The Bobcats are 6-18 overall and 5-9 in MAAC play. They are coming off of a five-set win against Fairfield. Morgan Sherwin led with 16 kills, followed by Kat Miller with 15 and Lydia Jones with 14. Setter Maria Pansari tallied 51 assists.

Marist hosted the Bobcats on Wednesday, October 10th. The Red Foxes won 3-1. Sarah Austin led Marist with 18 kills, followed by Nikki DeSerpa with 17 and Megan Fergus with 10. Taylor van der Biezen had 48 assists, while Stephanie Stone added five blocks.

                                                 

SCOUTING FAIRFIELD

 
The Stags are 10-13 overall and 9-5 in MAAC matchups. They are coming off of a five-set loss to Quinnipiac. Laura Seeger led with 14 kills, followed by Julia Kallen with 13 and Luci Albertson with 10. Setter Alexis Rich had 49 assists.

Marist hosted Fairfield on Wednesday, September 26th and got swept. Nikki DeSerpa and Sarah Austin led the Foxes with 13 kills each and van der Biezen had 36 assists.

                                                 

APPROACHING MILESTONES

Senior setter Taylor van der Biezen currently sits at 899 assists for this season. Last season, she set her career-high with 1044 assist on the season, and with four games left to play, it is possible that she reaches or surpasses that mark. She also sports a higher assists per set (A/S) ratio this year at 9.56, compared to 9.16 last year.

Junior Nikki DeSerpa is also approaching a career high in kills. She had 364 kills last season, and she currently has 309 kills this season. She has increased her kills per set (K/S) ratio from 3.28 to 3.36, and her hitting percentage from .141 to .171.
