ELON, North Carolina – Marist picked up a hard fought 61-57 victory over Elon Friday evening.
Alana Gilmer had a monster game, matching her career high with 27 points. Senior
Maura Fitzpatrick scored her career 1000th point in the first quarter of the game. With the win, Marist improves to 6-1 on the season.

Elon held a slim lead throughout the first part of the first quarter. Back to back layups from
Maura Fitzpatrick gave Marist its first lead of the game at 15-13 with 4:19 left in the quarter. The Red Foxes would go cold for the next four minutes, only to break the ice with two free throws from Fitzpatrick. The Phoenixes took a 21-17 lead into the next frame.

Grace Vander Weide banked back to back lay ups to tie up the game 21 all. Elon went on a 5-0 run over the next five minutes before Marist could find the basket next.
Rebekah Hand made both her free throws to close out the half to cut into Elon's lead 32-31 going into the second half.

Hand lobbed a long pass to Gilmer for a layup to open the second half. But Elon went on a 10-0 run to take a 42-33 lead and force a Marist timeout. Marist slowly started chipping away at the lead and made it a two possession game at 49-45 to end the third quarter.

Marist went on a 10-0 run to open the fourth quarter, getting great contributions from Gilmer and
Willow Duffell. Elon would tie it up 57-57 with 3:26 left in the game. A clutch jumper from Gilmer gave the Red Foxes a 59-57 lead with 1:35 left. Elon had the opportunity to send the game into overtime, but the Phoenixes missed their shot and two free throws from Hand sealed the win.

- Marist was able to capitalize on turnovers, scoring 22 points off of them.
- The Red Foxes outscored Elon 16-8 in the fourth quarter and only turned the ball over once.
- Elon's Brie Perpignan had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
