POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Senior wide receiver
Juston Christian of the Marist football team was named a Third Team All-American in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) by STATS.
Christian set the program's career records for receiving yards (4.069) and receiving touchdowns (34) this season. He became the 18th receiver in FCS history to amass 4,000 receiving yards in his career. Christian also set Marist's single-game record for receiving yards (274, at Columbia) as well as the program's single-season record for receiving touchdowns (15).
Christian currently ranks in the top 10 of the Football Championship Subdivision in five statistical categories: yards per reception (second, 25.1), receiving touchdowns (fourth, 15), receiving yards per game (eighth, 105.0), receiving yards (ninth, 1,155), and total touchdowns (10
th, 15).
Christian was previously named First Team All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) for the third straight year, as well as First Team All-ECAC. He is scheduled to compete in the
Gridiron Showcase in Texas next month.
In the last six years, four Marist football players have earned All-America honors. Following the 2013 season, Terrence Fede was named an All-American by three different outlets (Sports Network, Associated Press, Walter Camp Foundation) en route to becoming the first former Marist football player to be selected in the NFL Draft (Miami Dolphins, seventh round). Phede Celestin was named a Third Team All-American by the Sports Network that year as well. In 2014, Zach Adler was named a Third Team All-American by The Associated Press.
The Marist football team completed its 10
th season in the PFL in 2018. The Red Foxes went 5-3 in league play. Marist will open the 2019 season at Georgetown on Sept. 7.
