POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball's season-opening series at Coppin State has been canceled.
The Red Foxes and Eagles were scheduled to play a single game on Saturday, Feb. 17 and doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 18. However, the series was called off due to construction at Coppin State's home field.
Marist will now open its season in the Madeira Beach Invitational the weekend of Feb. 23-25. The Red Foxes will play five games in the tournament:
- Friday, Feb. 23, 11 a.m. – Villanova
- Friday, Feb. 23, 4 p.m. – Arkansas
- Saturday, Feb. 24, 6:30 p.m. – Rhode Island
- Sunday, Feb. 25, 11 a.m. – Middle Tennessee
- Sunday, Feb. 25, 2 p.m. – Eastern Michigan
Marist was picked to finish
third in this year's MAAC preseason poll, with senior Kourtney Paul being named Preseason All-MAAC. The Red Foxes are heading into their 10th season under the leadership of head coach
Joe Ausanio. Marist has had winning seasons in each of the last seven years, and has made three trips all-time to NCAA Regionals (2006, 2013, 2016).
