SAN LUIS OBISPO, California– The Marist softball team fell to Santa Clara 4-3 and to Cal Poly 4-1 on Saturday during day two at the Shareslo Mustang Classic.

SUMMARY OF SANTA CLARA
In game one, junior
Brooke Peterson started and pitched 3.1 innings of six-hit, three-run (only one earned) ball. She was relieved by junior
Kallen Leeseberg who threw 3.2 innings of one-hit, one-run ball with three strikeouts. On the offensive side, all three runs were scored in the first inning. The Red Foxes loaded the bases on walks from freshman
Caroline Baratta, senior
Miranda Perez, and then red-shirt sophomore
Claire Oberdorf got hit by a pitch. Sophomore
Ali Milam singled to chase home all three runners.

SUMMARY OF CAL POLY
Freshman
Nicole Teague started game two. She pitched a complete game allowing seven hits, four runs, and three walks. On the offensive side, Oberdorf and Milam had the only two hits for Marist. They both came in the fourth inning when Oberdorf singled and Milam followed with an RBI double to right center.

Marist is now 5-9 overall. Santa Clara is 3-15. Cal Poly is 12-9.
