RALEIGH, North Carolina – The Marist softball team defeated Niagara 5-3 on day two of the RDU/RDP Challenge. Originally, there was supposed to be two games, but the second got pushed to tomorrow due to inclement weather.

SUMMARY OF NIAGARA
The Red Foxes quickly grabbed a run in the first inning on a sac fly by sophomore Ali Milam, scoring freshman Caroline Baratta. Marist held this lead until the 3rd inning, when a three-run homer gave Niagara the lead. The Red Foxes would score two in the 4th to tie the game. Junior Brandi Coon and sophomore Amanda Sartori pulled off a double steal, swiping second and home, respectively. Freshman Hunter Hand then singled to drive in Coon. Two more runs in the 5th would seal the comeback win. Senior Gabrielle Kelliher scampered home on a passed ball, which also allowed senior Kourtney Paul to advance to third. Coon then reached on an error, allowing Paul to score.
