BOILING SPRINGS, North Carolina – The Marist softball team defeated Gardner-Webb 3-1 on Sunday to close out play in the Red And Black Tournament.

- A sacrifice fly by Gardner-Webb's Katie Prebble brought home Andria Booth with the game's first run in the bottom of the first.
- Senior Gabrielle Kelliher hit a solo homer with one out in the top of third, which tied the score at one. The Red Foxes added two more in the top of the third – on an error, which allowed junior Casey Page to score, and another on an RBI single by sophomore Ali Milam, which brought home freshman Caroline Baratta.
- Gardner-Webb had runners in scoring position in the third, fourth, sixth, and seventh innings, including runners on first and second with none out in the seventh. But junior Megan Beiermeister held Gardner-Webb scoreless in each frame.
