Marist Softball Bounces Back, Splits With Quinnipiac

Oberdorf Hits Clutch Three-Run Homer

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist softball team split a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader with Quinnipiac on Saturday. After falling to the Bobcats 3-0 in game one, the Red Foxes responded for a 9-6 triumph in game two.
 
Game One – Quinnipiac 3, Marist 0
Summary
  • Quinnipiac scored twice in the first on a two-out, two run single by Keilani Finley
  • Lexi Courtney's RBI single with two outs in the fourth account for the game's final run.
  • The Red Foxes had just six baseunners in the contest. Their best scoring chance came with runners on first and second with two outs in the third.
  • In addition to receiving an outstanding pitching performance from Casey Herzog, the Bobcats made several stellar defensive plays.

  • Quinnipiac jumped out to 2-0 lead before Marist scored four in the third. Red-shirt sophomore Claire Oberdorf was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and sophomore Ali Milam followed with a two-run double.
  • The Bobcats tied the game in the top of the fourth on back-to-back home runs by Brighid Douglas and Megan Dyson.
  • The Red Foxes responded with five runs in the fourth. A three-run homer by Oberdorf gave Marist the lead for good.

Up Next
Marist will head to Loudonville to face MAAC rival Siena on Thursday, April 19. Game one will start at 2 p.m., with game two starting about 30 minutes after the completion of game one.
