Women’s Soccer Scores Two In Shutout Win Over Vermont

Bradley’s First-Half Goal The Difference In Win Over Catamounts

BURLINGTON, Vermont – Keri Bradley's first-half goal would prove to be the difference as the Marist women's soccer team picked up a 2-0 win over host Vermont on Sunday afternoon at Virtue Field. The win is the Red Foxes' first of the season as the team moves to 1-1-1. Vermont drops to 0-2-1 on the season.

SUMMARY
The Red Foxes started out strong applying much of the pressure throughout the first half. After 25 minutes of play, Marist earned its first real chance when a strike off a free kick from Alexa Svensson was punched just over the bar by the Catamounts' keeper. The Red Foxes kept up the pressure and were finally rewarded with a 32nd minute goal by Bradley. The junior forward sprinted down the left side, made a move, and then took a shot that found the upper right corner of net to put the Red Foxes ahead.

The Red Foxes had a golden chance to go two ahead, when in the 58th minute a run down the side by freshman Victoria Colatosti led to her being taken down in the box by Vermont's keeper. Alexa Svensson's penalty kick attempt and ensuing header were both stopped by the Catamount goalie and the score would remain 1-0.

Vermont's best chance of the game would come in the 70th minute after a breakdown in the box led to a near point blank chance that was rang off the cross bar and out. Marist's stellar defense would lock down for the remainder and redshirt-freshman Anna Davies would shut the door on Vermont with an 89th minute goal as the Red Foxes would head home with their first win of the season.
