POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Volleyball opens up Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play this weekend with a match against Canisius Saturday, September 15 and Sunday September 16 in McCann Arena. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

Marist played in the Delaware Volleyball Tournament. The team played several close sets throughout the weekend but ultimately went 0-3. Junior
Megan Fergus was named to the All-Tournament team after finishing the weekend with 33 kills and nine total blocks.

The Golden Griffins are 2-7 on the season, most recently picking up a 3-1 win against Milwaukee at the Marriott Kalamazoo Conference Center Tournament. Camila Vazquez leads the MAAC in hitting percentage at .351 while Sofia Lopez Acosta is the conference leader in digs per game, averaging 5.48.

Niagara is seeking its first win of the season this weekend. The Purple Eagles were picked to finish fifth in the conference in the MAAC preseason poll. As a team, Niagara is fourth in the conference in hitting percentage, assists and kills.

This will be the first time Marist will produce a broadcast for volleyball on an ESPN platform. The remainder of home games will air on either ESPN3 or ESPN+. Mike Ferarro and Dean Lombardos will provide on air talent for both matches this weekend.

Taylor van der Biezen looks to eclipse 2,000 career assists this weekend. The Red Fox is currently at 1971 and sits in eighth all-time in career assists.
