- "Obviously disappointed in the result. We had numerous chances in the first half, and we honestly should have put them away there." remarked Coach Matt Viggiano. "We had poor defending on two pretty straight-forward set pieces that we gave open goals to that we honestly haven't done all year. In the second half there was a bunch of gamesmanship that made it, in some ways, an unwatchable game of soccer. It happens in this conference, and we have to learn to adjust to it and be better… If you look at the first half, there was a good 20-30 minute block where we had them on the ropes and we were outplaying them. We had two golden opportunities to score. We can take a positive from that, but I think we need to show a little more grit and savvy-ness against smart opponents like that… We have talented players, and we need to score. When you get into conference play, you have to be gritty and make the most of your chances."
The Red Foxes will host Iona on Wednesday, October 3 at 7 p.m. for another MAAC matchup.
