PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – The Marist men's tennis team completed its second tournament of the fall as the Red Foxes spent the weekend playing singles and doubles matches at the Brown Invitational hosted by Brown University.
- In flight 1 doubles, Lars Schouten and Piotr Sowinski dropped their match to BC's Austin and Mullins, 3-0. During day two Schouten and Sowinski fell to Bryant's Kuhar and Jakubowski, 6-2.
- In flight 2 Christopher Gladden and John Oxner fell to Villanova's Flanagan and Schuls, 3-0. On day two Gladden and Oxner defeated Bryant's Dong and Schou, 7-5.
- In flight 3 Kian Yazdi and Jack Sequerth fell to Boston's Hartenstein and Stehlig, 2-1. On day two, Yazdi and Sequerth fell to Villanova's Martinez and Czlonka, 6-4.
- During day three, Schouten and Sowinski defeated Lu and Bogatin from Boston University, 6-4. Gladden and Oxner fell to Siniakowicz and Van Eck from Brown, 6-1 and Yazdi and Seuquerth fell to Hearst and Bader from Brown, 6-4.
- In singles play, Hartenstein defeated Yazdi, 6-4, 6-4. Jack Sequerth took down BU's Stehling, 6-3, 3-6, 12-10 during day one. Sequerth bounced back during day two, defeating Villanova's Czlonka, 6-1, 6-1. Yazdi fell to Martinz, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
- Villanova's Flanagan defeated Oxner, 7-5, 6-3 while Schuls defeated Gladden, 3-6, 7-6(3), 10-8 on day one. On day two Gladden picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win over Dong while Oxner fell 7-5, 6-1 to Schou.
- Sowinski and Schouten both fell in their singles matches to competition from Boston College on day one and Bryant on day two.
- On day three Sowinski and Schouten both lost their singles matches. Gladden wrapped up the weekend with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 win over Siniakowicz from Brown. Kian Yazdi also picked up a 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 win over Brown's Hearst on day three.
The Red Foxes will head to Princeton, New Jersey to take part in the Farnsworth Invitational on Friday, October 5
th to Sunday, October 7
th.
