POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist men's tennis team opens the 2019 spring season against the St. John's Red Storm on Sunday, January 27. After competing in seven tournaments during the fall season, the Red Foxes hope to open the spring season with a victory. The match is scheduled to begin at noon.

 The Red Foxes went 8-6 overall last season, including 5-2 in conference play. The team finished as the runner-up in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship last season, falling to Monmouth in the final round.

Marist was selected to finish third in the MAAC this upcoming season, as voted on by the league's head coaches in this year's preseason poll. The Red Foxes were picked to finish behind Monmouth and Quinnipiac, respectively, but picked to finish just ahead of Fairfield.

Last year, the Red Storm finished with a 14-6 overall record. They lost in the semifinals of the Big East Championships to Marquette. St. John's was very tough to beat at home last season, going an impressive 10-1. This season, the Red Storm are 0-1, having lost their first matchup of the 2019 season 4-0 to the Brown Bears.

Marist will take on the Bucknell Bison on Saturday, February 2. The match is set to begin at noon.
