Women's Basketball Prepares for Showdown with Quinnipiac

2018 MAAC Championship Rematch will Air on ESPNU

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist women's basketball (10-4, 2-0 MAAC) returns home for a 2018 MAAC Championship rematch with Quinnipiac (7-6, 2-0 MAAC) on Thursday, Jan. 10. The first meeting of the season between the Red Foxes and the Bobcats begins at noon on ESPNU.

LAST TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes defeated Canisius to top off a 2-0 road trip thanks to Alana Gilmer sparking a 10-0 run with consecutive field goals to end the third quarter.
  • Gilmer finished with 22 points, six rebounds and two assists, while Rebekah Hand contributed 13 points, six rebounds and two assists.
  • Grace Vander Weide had a strong showing as well with 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.
  • The game involved 10 lead changes with eight ties, but the Red Foxes never allowed the Golden Griffins to pull ahead by more than three points.
ABOUT QUINNIPIAC
  • Two-time defending champion Quinnipiac enters the game after defeating Fairfield and Saint Peter's by 45 points each.
  • Jen Fay is the only Bobcat averaging double-digit scoring with 12.1 per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
  • Aryn McClure has reached 9.8 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game as well.
  • Head Coach Tricia Fabbri is in her 24th year at the helm of the Bobcats, with a career record of 407-282.

  • Marist and Quinnipiac have won 13 of the last 15 MAAC championships, meeting in the MAAC finals in 2014, 2015 and 2018.
  • Last season's three games were decided by a total of 21 points.
  • Rebekah Hand leads the NCAA in free-throw percentage (.952). She has made 30 consecutive free throws dating back to Nov. 18.
  • Alana Gilmer (.444), Hand (.427) and Sarah Barcello (.392) rank first, second and fourth in the MAAC in three-point percentage.
  • Grace Vander Weide leads the conference in assists per game (4.4), while Allie Best sits in fifth (3.3).

The Red Foxes head to Fairfield (3-10, 0-2 MAAC) on Saturday, Jan. 12 to face off with the Stags at 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3, with radio provided by GoRedFoxes.com.
