POUGHKEEPSIE, New York - Marist men's soccer (4-6, 1-2 MAAC) outlasted Siena (4-8, 1-3 MAAC) in double overtime for their first conference victory of the season.
Huib Achterkamp put the Red Foxes on the board in the first half, and
Stefan Copetti scored the golden goal in the 107th minute.

- The Red Foxes had their first scoring opportunity in the 12th minute on a corner kick. Sophomore Christian Curti headed the ball towards the bottom left corner, but Siena goalkeeper Greg Monroe dove for the save.Â
- Marist would find two morechances in the 23rd and 24th minutes. Senior Samad Bounthong fired a shot that was saved by Monroe, then sophomore Skylar Conway's attempt missed high.
- Marist broke the ice in the 38th minute. After earning a dead-ball situation in the penalty box, junior Huib Achterkamp found the net on a PK.
- Minutes later, Siena tied the game. Matt Crisafulli headed a perfectly placed ball from Gylfi Gestsson into the top left corner of the net.Â
- In the 60th minute, Samuel Ilin made a spectacular save to keep the game tied. He stepped out of the goal on a closing-in Conor McGlynn and just got enough of his hand on the ball to deflect it away from the goal.
- Marist put together several drives in the second half, but could not find the back of the net. Â
- The Red Foxes took three shots in the first overtime period but still did not break through the Saints' defenses.
- Finally, freshman Antek Sienkiel found classmate Stefan Copetti ahead of the Siena back line, and he beat Monroe for the game-winner.                Â
- The Red Foxes had the advantage in shots 19-9, but the Saints matched them in shots on goal with five each.
- Marist tallied eight corner kicks to Siena's two.
- Ilin made four saves while Monroe recorded three.
- Achterkamp is now the Marist scoring leader with three goals, having gone 3-for-3 on penalty kicks.
- Copetti netted his second goal of the season, as well as his second game-winner.
- The Red Foxes have now won three of the last four matches against the Saints.
The Red Foxes continue their homestand against MAAC preseason-favorite Fairfield (2-4-4, 0-1-2 MAAC) on Wednesday, October 16. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
