Women’s Soccer Meets Fairfield In Key MAAC Match

Stags And Red Foxes Sit Third and Fourth In Standings, Respectively

POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – With just four games remaining in the regular season, Marist Women's Soccer visits Fairfield in a crucial conference match on Wednesday, October 16 at 4:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist defeated Siena 1-0 in Loudonville, NY on Saturday, October 12.
  • After senior Alexa Svensson lofted in a corner kick, the Saints' defense misplayed the ball, allowing junior captain Nicole Sasso to rocket home the loose ball for the lone score.
  • In net, sophomore Natalie Kelchner cobbled together seven saves, including five after Sasso's goal in the 48th minute.
 
WEEKLY AWARDS
  • Sasso was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals in two games.
  • This was her first weekly award in her Red Fox tenure.
  • Kelchner earned MAAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition with a pair of shutouts and nine total saves.
  • It was the sophomore's second weekly award this year, and the third defensive honor for a Red Fox in 2019.
