POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Both the men's and women's swimming & diving teams are back in action on Thursday, October 24, in what will be both of the teams' home opener at the McCann Natatorium. The Red Foxes welcome Fordham University to town for the second dual meet of the season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

- On Friday, October 18 both the men's and women's teams opened their seasons on the road against Canisius in a dual meet.
- Both teams emerged victorious over the Golden Griffins, with the men picking up a 183-115 victory, and the women earning a 189-11 win.
- Esabelle Gervasio continued her impressive performance at the end of last season, into the new year. After winning Diver of the Meet at the ECAC and MAAC Championships, she came into Friday's meet and dominated the 1-meter dive, with a score of 244.20.
- It was a dominant day all around for Sidney Judson, totaling 22 points in the meet. She finished in first place in the 500-yard free with a time of 5:12.76. as well as the 1,000-yard free with a time of 10:40.59. She also finished in second place in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:58.16.
- Captain Raislan Aiken had a sold day in Buffalo, leading the divers. He placed in first in the 3-meter dive with a score of 248.48. He also placed in second in the 1-meter dive, with a score of 239.47.
- Ahmed Sallam burst onto the scene in his first action as a Red Fox. The member of the Egyptian Junior National Swimming Team finished in first place in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free, with times of 21.08 and 47.11, respectively.
- The men's and women's teams have fared very differently against Fordham over the past few seasons.
- The Red Foxes have squared off against the Rams each of the last 12 seasons, taking a break in 2006. In total the two teams have same in 16 total meets throughout the history of the program.
- The men's team has historically dominated Fordham, holding a record of 11-5 over the Rams. Last season, the Red foxes defeated the Rams 156-81.
- The women's team has won only once against Fordham, all the way back in 2005, making them 1-15 overall. Last season Marist fell to the Rams 148-93.
- For this week's feature, the Red Fox Network got to talk with Head Coach Larry VanWagner, as well as Jackson Klarsfeld and Grace Reeves to preview both the upcoming meet and the rest of the season.
- Klarsfeld is coming off a career performance, placing in first place in the 200-yard IM, beating his personal best time by seven seconds that he set last season at the MAAC Championships.
- Reeves is also looking to improve upon an impressive start to the year, where she earned first place in the 3-meter dive, with a score of 220.64, which was not only a personal best, but also the first time she won the event.
- VanWagner is very happy with how the season started, and feels that the next few meets will be season-defining for the Red Foxes.

- Last year, the Rams finished with an overall record of 3-4 on the year.
- Fordham placed eighth in the Atlantic 10 Championship last season.
- The Rams are 1-0 so far this year, having beaten Manhattan 144-92 on Friday, October 18
- Off to a good start this season for the Rams, having won their events, includes: Spencer Clarke (200 IM), Casey Sawyer (100-meter butterfly), and Ethan Murray (500-yard free).
- Fordham went undefeated last season, finishing with an overall record of 7-0.
- The Rams placed third of 11 teams in the Atlantic 10 Championship last season.
- Fordham is 1-0 so far this year, as they took down Marist's MAAC rival Manhattan 173-63 on Friday, October 18.
- Amelia Bullock has been the star of the show so far for the Rams, as the lone multi-event winner of the season so far. Bullock placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (55.46), and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.55).
Both teams will resume the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference season next weekend, in a dual meet at Rider on Saturday, November 2. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
