BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania – The men and women of Marist cross country will continue their strong seasons this Saturday at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh University. This invitational is the largest competition of the cross country season every year, with over 6,000 athletes in attendance from all divisions as well as high school programs.

Saturday, October 5
- The Marist women will race in the Gold Division 6k at approximately 11:45 a.m.
- The men will run in the Brown Division 8k at approximately 12:15 p.m.
- Results will be posted on LehighSports.com after the races.
- The men won the Monmouth Henry Mercer Invitational, beating out seven MAAC opponents for their second team-victory of the season.
- Freshman Brendan Dearie led the way with a personal best of 26:32.00 in the five-mile to finish fourth out of 145 total runners.
- The rest of the Red Fox scoring group was comprised of James Draney (ninth), Graham Strzelecki (13th), Alexander Hogue (15th) and James Moehringer (19th).
- The women finished as runners-up at the Henry Mercer Invitational, defeating seven MAAC opponents and only coming up short against national #27 Princeton.
- Gianna Tedeschi earned her third top-3 placement of the season, running 18:17.34 in the 5k for a personal best and third place out of 146 total athletes.
- Gianna Mastromatteo (eighth), Alexandra Bartolotta (11th), Denise Grohn (14th) and Kathryn Tenney (20th) made up the scoring squad for Marist.
- The women will run in the elite Gold division, where they will go head-to-head with 44 programs from across the country including national #27 Princeton and regionally ranked teams such as Eastern Michigan, Georgetown, Georgia, Maryland, Montana State, Tennessee, Utah State, Villanova and MAAC rivals Iona.
- The men will compete in the Brown division, where they are set to face off with 47 programs including Binghamton, Bucknell, Columbia, Georgetown, New Hampshire, UMBC, as well as multiple MAAC squads.
- In 2018, the women earned an impressive 10th place out of 41 in the Gold Division. Gianna Tedeschi led the team with a 40th-place finish as the Red Foxes beat out Northeast #5 Columbia, #11 New Hampshire and #12 Vermont.
- The men finished eighth out of 44 programs in the Brown Division. Michael Kennedy ran a personal best of 25:24.0 in the 8k to finish top-15 in a field of 362 competitors.
- Both the men and the women have won two of three competitions they've attended this season.
- The women have been named 10th in the Northeast for their strong results, their best-ever regional ranking.
- The women have earned two top-10 finishers at every meet, while Brendan Dearie has earned a top-ten placement at all three competitions for the men.
The cross country squads will split up for the weekend of October 18, racing at either the Albany Invitational on Friday or the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, October 19.
