LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – Marist men's swimming and diving was defeated 181-114 by the Rider Broncs on Saturday afternoon. The defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Champion Broncs were a force to be reckoned with today, giving the Red Foxes trouble through the entire meet. The loss was just the first of the season for the Marist men's squad, as they are now 2-1 on the year, with a 1-1 mark against conference foes.
- The men opened the competition with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Sean Doran, Mason Arnberg, Pavel Makarchuk, and Ethan McCormac clocked in at 1:38.36
- The Red Foxes earned their first victory of the day in the 200-yard fly, when Adam Kapusta clocked in at 1:54.73 in first place.
- Kapusta was the leading scorer on the day for the men, totaling 17 points. Besides the 200-fly, he also finished second on the 200-yard free and the 500-yard free. His squad also came in first place in the 400-yard Free Relay.
- Ahmed Sallam had a nice day in individual events, totaling 10 points. He placed second in both the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free, with times of 21.47 and 47.06, respectively.
- Raislan Aiken came in second place in both diving evets, totaling 281.32 points in the 3-meter dive and 277.80 points in the 1-meter dive.
- The men's squad finished strong, taking first, second, and third place in the 400-yard free relay A team consisting of Ante Dany, Salam, McCormac, and Kapusta clocked in at first place with a time of 3:07.29.
The Red Foxes have next week off, and will return to McCann Natatorium on Friday. November 15 for their second home dual meet of the season. Marist will host non-conference foe Colgate at 5 p.m.
